Judith Leiber X Alexander Wang - $100 Bill Minaudieres

Alexander Wang is typically known for his more street-style designs, so this collaboration with iconic handbag designer Judith Leiber who specializes in whimsical crystal clutches, came as a surprise to many of his fans.

A unique take on Judith Leiber’s signature evening clutches, this stunning minaudiere resembles a stack of $100 bills. Painstakingly created using over 10,000 crystals in varying shades of green and gunmetal grey to mimic the appearance of $100 notes, this one-of-a-kind couture clutch features an actual rubber band accent to create the illusion of a roll of bills.

Speaking of the collaboration at the time, Wang said: “When I think about collaborations, I always try to work with people who do something that’s very specialized and who are a leader in their field. I love that we don’t normally do evening bags or do anything that’s really decorative or bedazzled.”

This limited edition clutch was revealed at Wang’s Spring 2018 show in New York and was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction – as you might expect when two iconic designers decide to join forces to create something truly special and unique.

Each one of these limited edition clutches took a week to hand bead and retailed for just under $5,000. At the time, it was available to purchase at the Alexander Wang New York and London stores, Saks Fifth Avenue, and at alexanderwang.com. However, now, you will have your work cut out for you if you want to get hold of one of these extremely rare couture clutches!

In fact, if you want to get your hands on one of these stunning creations, you will be sad to hear that only 20 were made. Talk about exclusivity!
